Reay H. Brown, MD is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma, glaucoma surgery and cataract surgery. He has been in practice in Atlanta since 1988.
Dr. Brown earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College Cum Laude and completed medical school at the University of Michigan. His training in ophthalmology was at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He then returned to Johns Hopkins as Chief Resident and joined the Hopkins faculty.
Dr. Brown previously was the Pamela Firman Professor of Ophthalmology at the Emory Eye Center. He was the Director of the Glaucoma Service at Emory for eleven years prior to entering private practice with Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates in 1999.
Dr. Brown has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles on glaucoma, cataract surgery, and other aspects of eye care. He frequently lectures on glaucoma at national and international meetings. He has been awarded four patents for new instruments to improve glaucoma surgery and has 4 other patents pending. He is continuing to work on novel and improved approaches to glaucoma surgery as a consultant to GMP-Companies, Inc.
Dr. Brown has been selected by his peers to be listed each year in Best Doctors in America and has been featured in a separate peer survey in Atlanta Magazine as one of the best ophthalmologists in Atlanta. He has appeared numerous times on local and national television commenting on issues of glaucoma treatment. Dr. Brown specializes in glaucoma treatment, cataract surgery, and intraocular lens implantation.
Although Dr. Brown thoroughly enjoys his work, the true focus of his life is his family. He is blessed with a wonderful wife, Dr. Mary Lynch, a Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory and Chief of Ophthalmology at the V.A. Hospital. Dr. Lynch and Dr. Brown are research partners in the development of a better surgical treatment of glaucoma. The lights of their lives are their two lovely daughters, Veronica and Annie. Rounding out their chaotic household are two English Mastiff puppies named Lucy and Lily.
Dr. Brown is an avid runner and enjoys playing tennis and taking trips with his family.

surgery, corneal transplant surgery and cataract surgery. He has been in practice
in Atlanta since 1992.
He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University: he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
He then attended medical school and completed his residency at Emory University. He did a
fellowship in corneal surgery at the University of Iowa, and he was a full-time faculty member at
The Emory Eye Center of Emory University from 1992 to 1999. In 1999, Dr. Palay entered private
practice with Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates, PC, specializing in LASIK refractive surgery,
corneal transplantation, and cataract surgery. He remains actively involved in teaching surgical
techniques at Emory University as an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology.
His extensive work and experience in the field of corneal disease has made him a nationally
recognized corneal specialist. He has written two major textbooks of ophthalmology, Cornea
Color Atlas and Ophthalmology For the Primary Care Physician. Corneal Color Atlas is regarded
as the gold standard for corneal disease. He also contributed to the textbook of corneal
diseases, Cornea and he frequently reviews research papers for the journal Cornea and The
American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has published numerous articles and presented his
research work at several national ophthalmology meetings. For his dedication to the field, he has
been featured as one of the best ophthalmologists in Atlanta Magazine and in Best Doctors In
America several times, most recently in 2006. Currently, he is one of the Medical Directors for the
Georgia Eye Bank.
When not busy with patients, Dr. Palay cherishes the free time he spends with his wife, Debbie,
and two children, Matthew and Sarah. He even enjoys finding time to perfect his tennis game.

, is a board certified ophthalmologist and has been in private practice here in Atlanta since 1972. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Kindy spent three years at Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana, where he earned his undergraduate degree graduating cum laude. He was also class president his last year. He then went on to receive his medical degree at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1966.
After a year of internship at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan, he served two years as Captain in the United States Army. His first year was spent in Cu Chi, Vietnam, where he was battalion surgeon for an infantry unit during which time he earned the bronze star. His last year was spent as chief physician at Sharpe Army Depot in Manteca, California.
Following his service in the army he returned to Indiana University Medical Center where he completed his three year ophthalmology residency in 1972 and then moved to Atlanta. In 1973 and 1974 he was asked to proctor and lecture to the ophthalmology residents at Grady Hospital. He has been on the active staff at numerous hospitals in the Atlanta area and has served as chief of surgery at Shallowford Hospital.
Dr. Kindy has been married to his lovely wife Sharon for 35 years, and they have two children, Karisa and Chad, which whom they spend many hours of enjoyment.
In his free time, Dr. Kindy enjoys boating, playing golf, and dabbling in photography.

Kristie J. Bennett, OD, is an optometrist specializing in primary eyecare and contact lenses. She has been practicing since 2004.
Dr. Bennett received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. After graduating, she completed a postdoctoral residency at the Cincinnati Eye Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio, focusing on the treatment and management of ocular diseases and comanagement of ocular surgeries. Prior to joining Atlanta Ophthalmology Associates in 2007, she practiced at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Massachusetts.
Dr. Bennett is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association. She has contributed her contact lens knowledge in the book Primary Care Medicine, sixth edition, and has been recognized for her excellence in patient care through awards by her peers.
In her free time, Dr. Bennett and her husband, Rob, enjoy running, reading and listening to music.
